Hungary’s industrial sector moved back into negative territory in May 2026, with year-over-year output declining by 0.4%, according to data updated on 6 July 2026. This marks a reversal from April 2026, when industrial production had grown 0.9% compared with the same month a year earlier.
The May reading underscores renewed weakness in Hungary’s industrial base after a brief return to growth in April. On a year-over-year basis, the latest figure shows that factories and industrial producers are again producing less than they did in May 2025, raising concerns about the sustainability of the sector’s recovery momentum.
