Mexico’s gross fixed investment staged a strong rebound in April 2026, rising 5.90% year-over-year after contracting 2.60% in March 2026 on the same basis, according to data updated on 6 July 2026.
The turnaround marks a significant shift in investment dynamics, as the indicator moved from negative to solidly positive territory within a month. On a year-over-year comparison, April’s result reflects a clear improvement in capital spending relative to the same period a year earlier, reversing the weakness seen in March’s annual comparison.
The year-over-year framework means the current figure captures how investment in April 2026 compares with April 2025, while the previous figure showed how March 2026 stacked up against March 2025. The swing from -2.60% to 5.90% suggests renewed momentum in Mexico’s investment activity as the second quarter of 2026 gets under way.
