US stock futures slipped on Tuesday, pausing after Wall Street began the week with strong gains and another record close for the Dow. On Monday, the Dow added 0.29%, closing above the 53,000 level for the first time. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite also advanced, rising 0.72% and 1.12%, respectively, buoyed by strength in technology shares. Leading the gains were Tesla (+6.7%), AMD (+6.6%), Meta Platforms (+3.0%), Broadcom (+3.7%), and Western Digital (+7.1%).
In after-hours trading, Rivian tumbled more than 9% after the electric vehicle maker announced a public offering of 75 million common shares. Meanwhile, Samsung Electronics slipped in pre-market trading in South Korea, even after reporting stronger-than-expected profits driven by robust demand for AI data center memory chips.
