Switzerland’s consumer confidence index declined to -36 in June 2026, down from -32 a year earlier and below market expectations of -35. The drop reflected weakening sentiment across all major components, most notably job security, with that sub-index plunging to -62.8 from -42.7 in June 2025. Consumers also became more cautious about their personal finances, as expectations for their future financial situation fell to -31.8 from -27.4, while expectations for the broader economy eased to -39.6 from -38.0.
At the same time, views on past financial conditions worsened, with that indicator retreating to -43.4 from -36.4, and the measure of willingness to make major purchases slipped to -28.4 from -27.0. Overall, consumer sentiment remained deeply negative, underscoring persistent worries about the economic outlook, job prospects, and household finances.
