Croatia’s registered unemployment rate declined to 3.3% in June 2026 from 3.4% in May, marking the lowest level since records began in December 1996. The number of unemployed persons fell by 3.1% to 59.4 thousand, while total employment rose by 0.9% to 1.756 million. The labor force also expanded slightly, up 0.8% to 1.815 million.
Paid employment in legal entities increased by 0.5% to 1.501 million, and employment in crafts, trades, and freelance activities grew by 4.0% to 237 thousand. In contrast, the number of employed private farmers declined by 0.7% to 17.4 thousand.
On a year-on-year basis, however, total employment in June 2026 was down 1.5%, paid employment in legal entities fell 2.0%, and the labor force shrank 2.1%. This indicates that, despite the record-low unemployment rate, the broader labor market continues to exhibit signs of underlying weakness.
