Consumer borrowing in the United Kingdom accelerated in June 2026, according to the latest Bank of England (BoE) data, pointing to a firmer appetite for credit among households.
BoE figures show that consumer credit rose to £1.807 billion in June 2026, up from £1.662 billion in May 2026. The increase suggests that UK consumers continued to rely more on loans, credit cards, and other forms of unsecured borrowing at the start of the summer.
