The yield on the US 10-year Treasury note hovered around 4.68% on Thursday after rising nearly 10 basis points in the previous session, as the Federal Reserve left interest rates unchanged despite three FOMC members dissenting in favor of a hike. Chair Kevin Warsh emphasized that holding rates steady should not be interpreted as policy inertia, noting that markets will continue to respond to incoming economic data. In the Middle East, the US was reportedly conducting new air strikes on Iran following attacks on American forces in the region. At the same time, efforts to reach a broader agreement stalled, with Tehran insisting on retaining control of the Strait of Hormuz, heightening investor concerns about inflation and the future path of interest rates. Elsewhere, the Bank of England and the Bank of Japan are also widely expected to keep interest rates on hold this week.
