Hungary’s industrial production surged 10.1% year-on-year in June 2026, a sharp turnaround from the 0.4% decline recorded in May and the strongest expansion since September 2022, according to preliminary data. Growth was driven primarily by increased output in the manufacture of motor vehicles, as well as computer, electronic and optical products, and electrical equipment. In contrast, production fell in the food, beverages and tobacco segment. On a seasonally and working-day adjusted basis, however, industrial output decreased by 1.4% in June, reversing a 2.3% increase in May. Over the first half of 2026, industrial production was 2.4% higher than in the same period of 2025.
