Slovakia recorded a trade surplus of EUR 372.9 million in June 2026, down from EUR 445.8 million in the same month a year earlier, as import growth outpaced that of exports. Exports increased by 8.2% year on year to EUR 10.1 billion, driven primarily by a more than 6% rise in motor vehicle shipments. Sales to EU member states expanded by over 11%, while exports to non-EU markets slipped by 0.2%.
Imports rose 9.5% to EUR 9.7 billion, supported by an almost 6% increase in machinery and transport equipment purchases. Imports from EU countries grew by more than 11%, and those from non-EU countries advanced by 6%.
Over the first half of 2026, Slovakia’s trade surplus widened to EUR 1.67 billion, compared with EUR 1.32 billion in the same period of the previous year.
