The U.S. labor force participation rate edged down by 0.1 percentage points to 61.4% in July 2026, marking its lowest level since early 2021, as 264,000 individuals exited the labor force. Excluding the pandemic years 2020 and 2021, this is the weakest labor force participation rate since 1976.
