The shift from -0.1% in June to 0.3% in July indicates a modest reacceleration in consumer prices on a monthly basis. On a month-over-month basis, the “actual” July figure compares the change in prices in July to June, while the “previous” June figure reflects the change in prices in June relative to May. The return to positive monthly inflation suggests that price pressures, which briefly eased in early summer, have begun to firm again.
