Thailand Consumer Morale Rises to 4-Month High

The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s Consumer Confidence Index rose to 51.8 in July 2026, up from 50.7 in June. This marked the second consecutive monthly increase and the highest level since March, driven by lower oil prices and new government support measures. Initial fiscal stimulus from the government helped lift sentiment by strengthening domestic purchasing power.

In June, the Thai government introduced a 176-billion-baht (US$5.32 billion) consumer subsidy program to ease households’ cost-of-living pressures. This initiative forms part of a broader 400-billion-baht borrowing plan designed to cushion the economy from the impact of higher oil prices. Alongside these policy measures, higher agricultural commodity prices also contributed to the improvement in consumer confidence.
