Indonesian equities advanced 26 points, or 0.4%, to 6,527 in Friday morning trade, extending their rise to a three‑month high following Thursday’s gains. Sentiment improved on the back of stronger U.S. equity futures, even as Wall Street closed lower overnight amid a rebound in Treasury yields and a renewed surge in oil prices.
On the domestic front, July credit growth remained solid, though corporate borrowing showed signs of cooling in response to heightened uncertainty. Upside in the market was tempered by caution ahead of the release of Q2 current account figures later today, after the Q1 deficit widened to its largest level since 2019 on the back of weaker trade performance.
Investors also remained wary of potential El Niño–related food inflation, which could erode household purchasing power and dent consumer confidence. Gains were broadly based, led by financials, infrastructure, and property. Notable movers included Bank Rakyat Indonesia (up 2.2%), Sumber Alfaria Trijaya (1.8%), Indosat (1.5%), and Bank Mandiri (1.2%). For the week, the index is on track for robust gains of about 1.9%, recovering from last week’s modest decline.
