The annual inflation rate accelerated for the fourth consecutive month, reaching 15.3% in July 2026, its highest level since January 2025, and up from 13.9% in June. Food inflation also strengthened, rising to 15.7% in July from 15.1% in June, likewise the highest since January 2025.
Within the food category, price gains were particularly sharp for sugar, jam, honey and chocolate, meat, and oils and fats, which rose by 39.4%, 21.6% and 20.3%, respectively. Prices of fruit, dairy products and several other food items also increased by around 18% or more.
On a monthly basis, the Consumer Price Index (CPI) advanced 2.6% in July, following a 1% increase in the previous month.
