Peru’s economy grew 2.6% year-on-year in Q2 2026, easing from the 3.6% expansion registered in Q1. The increase was driven by non-primary activities, which rose 5.0%, while primary sectors shrank 5.2%.
Among the non-primary sectors, construction remained the key growth engine, expanding 8.9%. It was followed by commerce, which advanced 7.3%, and electricity and water, up 5.6%. Services as a whole increased 4.7%.
By contrast, several primary activities posted declines. Manufacturing output fell 5.0%, while mining and hydrocarbons contracted 0.9%. Agriculture and livestock decreased 2.0%, reversing the 1.5% expansion recorded in Q1. Fishing registered the sharpest drop, plunging 48.9% after a 6.4% decline in the previous quarter.
On a quarterly basis, overall GDP growth slowed from 3.6% in Q1 to 2.6% in Q2.
