Speculative positions on Brazil’s currency climbed in the latest reporting period, with net long contracts on the Brazilian real (BRL) rising to 68.7K, up from 66.3K previously, according to data updated on 21 August 2026 by the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC).
The increase in net long BRL positions suggests that traders and institutional investors have slightly strengthened their bullish stance on the Brazilian currency. While the move is incremental, it indicates continuing confidence in the real’s outlook, with more market participants betting on appreciation rather than depreciation.
