Retail sales in Lithuania rose by 6.0% year-on-year in July 2026, slowing from an upwardly revised 6.4% increase in June. This was the weakest annual growth in five months. The deceleration was driven mainly by more moderate gains in retail trade excluding automotive sales (8.2% vs. 10.1% in June) and in non-food products (12.3% vs. 13.8%). Within non-food, growth eased for textiles, clothing, and footwear (10.7% vs. 11.5%), as well as for information and communication equipment, cultural and recreation goods, watches, and jewelry (0.7% vs. 4.4%).
Retail activity via mail-order houses or the internet also slowed sharply (7.0% vs. 17.2%). Growth in sales of food, beverages, and tobacco (2.6% vs. 4.9%), along with other goods in specialized stores (26.3% vs. 34.3%), likewise moderated. By contrast, sales of automotive fuel registered a smaller decline than in the previous month (-2.3% vs. -7.0%).
On a monthly basis, retail sales increased by 0.8% in July, following an upwardly revised 0.6% rise in June.
