Slovakia’s consumer confidence indicator declined to -28 in August 2026 from -27.4 in July, reaching its lowest level since May. The reading stood 8.1 points below the long-term average and 3.6 points lower than a year earlier, indicating a further weakening of consumer sentiment. The downturn was driven by increased pessimism regarding unemployment prospects and expected savings. At the same time, households were slightly more optimistic about their expected financial situation and the broader economic outlook.
