Slovenia’s retail sales rose 5.2% year-on-year in July 2026, accelerating from an upwardly revised 2.7% in June and rebounding from a four-month low. This was the strongest annual growth since March.
The upturn was driven mainly by non-food products and automotive fuel. Sales of non-food items increased 5.7%, up from 3.4% in the previous month, while sales of automotive fuel in specialized stores surged 14.7% after a 2.7% rise in June. By contrast, sales of food items slowed sharply, growing just 0.1% compared with 7.2% in June.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales advanced 1.6% in July, reversing an upwardly revised 0.6% decline in June and posting the strongest monthly gain since March.
Over the first seven months of 2026, retail turnover was up 2.3% from a year earlier. Higher sales of non-food products (2.0%) and automotive fuel in specialized stores (7.6%) more than offset a decline in sales of food, beverages and tobacco (-0.8%).
