South Korea’s industrial production rose 0.2% month-on-month in July 2026, sharply down from an upwardly revised 6.7% increase in June. This marked the second consecutive monthly gain, but the pace slowed notably from June’s surge, which had been the strongest growth since February 2009. Manufacturing output also decelerated significantly, expanding just 0.2% compared with 7.0% in June, though it continued to be supported by the electronic components sector.
Manufacturing production eased for both domestic demand (up 1.1% vs 3.9% in June) and overseas demand (up 3.1% vs 5.1%). In contrast, services activity declined 1.3%, reversing a 0.9% increase in the previous month.
On a year-on-year basis, industrial production grew 3.6% in July, following an upwardly revised 6.0% jump in June, registering its second straight annual increase.
