Switzerland’s procure.ch–UBS Manufacturing PMI rose to 57.1 in August 2026, rebounding from a five-month low of 53.2 in July. This was the highest reading since May, signaling a renewed acceleration in manufacturing activity driven by stronger performances across several key components. Production jumped 5.6 points to 59.8, order books increased 4.2 points to 57.5, purchasing volumes surged 12.9 points to 61.0, and employment edged up 2.7 points to 50.4, returning to marginal expansion.
Inventory metrics also showed improvement: stocks of purchased goods rose 0.7 points to 48.2, while sales inventories climbed 2.4 points to 49.2. However, both remained just below the neutral 50 threshold, indicating slightly contracting stock levels. At the same time, supplier delivery times continued to lengthen, with the related index advancing 4.0 points to 66.9, pointing to ongoing supply-side frictions. On the cost side, input price pressures moderated, as the purchasing prices index declined 4.9 points to 69.3.
