Norway’s manufacturing production increased by 0.7% month-over-month in July 2026, rebounding from a 1.0% decline in June. Output recovered in several key sectors, including food, beverages and tobacco (0.4% vs -0.6% in June), rubber, plastic and mineral products (1.0% vs -1.7%), fabricated metal products (0.1% vs -3.5%), repair and installation of machinery (1.7% vs -7.1%), computer and electrical equipment (2.3% vs -1.7%), and machinery and equipment (5.4% vs -3.9%). Growth also continued in textiles, wearing apparel and leather (0.5% vs 0.1%) and in ships, boats and oil platforms (8.4% vs 3.2%).
By contrast, output fell further in wood and wood products (-8.1% vs -4.4%), refined petroleum, chemicals and pharmaceuticals (-1.2% vs 1.1%), and basic metals (-2.2% vs -1.7%). Production also declined in paper and paper products (-3.5% vs 6.6%), transport equipment n.e.c. (-14.8% vs -1.1%), and furniture and manufacturing n.e.c. (-0.7% vs 1.1%). On an annual basis, manufacturing output rose 1.5%, accelerating from 0.7% in June.
