Eurozone Growth Revised Higher to 0.6% in Q2

The Eurozone economy grew by 0.6% in Q2 2026, according to final data from Eurostat, an upward revision from the initial estimate of 0.4%. This was the strongest quarterly expansion since Q2 2022 and was driven in large part by a sharp reassessment of Ireland’s performance: Irish GDP jumped 10.2% in the quarter, after contracting 7.8% in Q1. Germany’s growth was also revised higher, to 0.3% from 0.2%, while France’s figure was lowered to flat (0.0%) from 0.2%. Among the larger economies, Spain again outperformed, with flash data indicating growth of 0.7%, and Italy’s 0.2% expansion was confirmed.

Net trade provided the largest boost to Eurozone growth, contributing 0.9 percentage points as exports rose 3.4%, comfortably outpacing a 1.5% increase in imports. Household consumption added 0.2 percentage points, with spending up 0.4% after a modest 0.1% rise in Q1. Fixed investment and government expenditure made only negligible contributions, while changes in inventories weighed on activity, subtracting 0.5 percentage points. On a year-on-year basis, Eurozone GDP growth accelerated to 1.2%, above the second estimate of 1.0%.
