Greece’s trade deficit widened to EUR 3.1 billion in July 2026 from EUR 3.0 billion a year earlier, reaching its highest level since December 2025. Imports increased by 10.7% year-on-year to EUR 8.2 billion, driven by a strong rise in purchases from non-EU countries (+24.7%), while imports from EU member states edged down by 0.4%. Exports rose even more sharply, up 15.9% to EUR 5.1 billion, supported by higher sales to both EU countries (+10.9%) and non-EU markets (+22.9%). Over the January–July period, however, the overall trade deficit narrowed to EUR 19.1 billion, compared with EUR 19.9 billion in the same period of the previous year.
