Speculative sentiment in the U.S. aluminium market turned slightly more bearish, according to the latest Commitments of Traders data released on 11 September 2026. The CFTC Aluminium speculative net positions slipped to -0.3K, down from -0.2K previously.
The shift indicates that, on balance, speculative traders have modestly increased their net short exposure to aluminium. While the move is incremental, the deeper negative reading underscores a cautious stance among market participants, who appear more inclined to position for downside risk in aluminium prices than for a rebound at this stage.
