Wholesale sales in Canada, excluding petroleum and hydrocarbon products, edged up 0.3% in July 2026 from the previous month to C$93.1 billion. The figure was revised up from a flash estimate of a 0.6% decline, extending June’s strong 2.8% increase and underscoring the Canadian manufacturing sector’s relative resilience to higher energy costs.
Gains were led by the building materials and supplies subsector, where sales rose 3.5% to C$13.8 billion, and by food, beverage, and tobacco wholesalers, whose sales increased 1.7% to C$16.67 billion. These advances were partly offset by declines in farm product sales, down 1.9% to C$1.8 billion, and in personal and household goods, which fell 1.5% to C$12.8 billion.
Wholesale prices were increased during the month to support nominal sales, as sales volumes contracted by 0.6% compared with June.
