US natural gas storage rose by 44 billion cubic feet in the week ending September 11, 2026, coming in just below market expectations for a 49 bcf injection. The build was markedly smaller than the 87 bcf increase reported in the same week a year earlier and the five-year average injection of 74 bcf for the 2021–2025 period.
Total working gas in storage reached 3.298 trillion cubic feet, leaving inventories about 3.6% below the level reported in the corresponding week last year but roughly 3.7% above the five-year average. The release follows a 40 bcf injection in the prior week ending September 4.
