FX.co ★ Baltic Dry Index Rises to 1-Week High

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk freight index, which measures rates for vessels transporting dry bulk commodities, rose for a third consecutive session on Monday, gaining about 0.8% to a one-week high of 3,399 points. The capesize index, reflecting rates for ships that typically carry 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, advanced 1.2% to 5,839 points. The panamax index, which covers vessels that usually transport 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, inched up 0.2% to 2,255 points, halting its previous decline. Among the smaller segments, the supramax index increased 0.4% to 1,771 points.
