Speculative interest in copper has intensified, with U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) data showing a notable rise in net long positions. As of 25 September 2026, copper speculative net positions increased to 90.5K, up from a previous level of 75.1K.
The jump in net long positioning signals that traders and investors have become more optimistic on copper’s price outlook compared with the prior reading. The sharp increase suggests stronger speculative conviction, with more market participants betting on further gains in the red metal.
