China’s 10-year government bond yield was unchanged at 1.67% on Monday, hovering near its lowest level since July 2025, as investors assessed the outcome of the recent Trump–Xi summit. The United States and China announced a plan to reduce tariffs on roughly $30 billion worth of imports from each side and agreed to extend their trade truce through January, providing some limited relief for bilateral trade relations.
However, the summit fell short of delivering major progress on several core issues, including cooperation on artificial intelligence and the conflict involving Iran. Beijing’s push for Washington to scale back arms sales to Taiwan also appeared to make little headway.
On the domestic front, China’s industrial profits rose 15.7% year-on-year to CNY 5.27 trillion in the first eight months of 2026, easing from the 17.6% growth recorded in the January–July period.
