Indonesia's trade surplus narrowed to USD 3.55 billion in August 2026, still significantly above market expectations of USD 0.6 billion but down from USD 5.49 billion in the same month a year earlier. Exports increased by 6.72% year-on-year, beating forecasts of a 4.2% rise and picking up from a 6.05% gain in July. Imports climbed 19.09% year-on-year, below projections of a 31.7% surge and easing from a 27.02% jump in July, amid elevated oil prices.
