Brazil’s new-vehicle sales rebounded in September, rising 2.3% month over month to 281,400 units after a 1.6% decline in August. This was the highest monthly volume since December 2014. The recovery was led by robust growth in passenger-car and light-commercial-vehicle sales. Passenger-car registrations increased 1.6% to 216,600 units, while light-commercial-vehicle sales advanced 4.4% to 52,200 units. Electrified models also underpinned overall demand, accounting for 20.1% of new light-vehicle registrations in Brazil in 2026. The heavy-vehicle segment strengthened as well, with truck sales up 2.2% to 10,200 units and bus sales surging 17.1% to 2,400 units. Reflecting the improved market outlook, Anfavea has revised up its 2026 forecasts for sales and production and now projects that the domestic market will reach 3.1 million registered vehicles this year.
