Chile’s annual inflation rate held at 4.1% in September 2026, unchanged from August. Price growth accelerated in several categories, including transport (7.9% vs. 6.8%), housing and utilities (3.6% vs. 3.4%), and health (5.1% vs. 4.9%), while deflation in clothing and footwear moderated to 3.1% from 4.0%.
By contrast, inflation slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.3% vs. 4.6%), recreation, sport and culture (5.2% vs. 6.4%), and restaurants and lodging (5.6% vs. 6.6%). Education inflation remained stable at 5.8%. The decline in prices for insurance and financial services deepened markedly, with deflation intensifying to 9.7% from 3.6%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.4% in September, following a 0.6% increase in August. Cumulative inflation from January to September reached 4.0%.
