US equity futures extended their uneven performance this week as renewed pressure on AI infrastructure stocks offset resilience in other sectors. S&P 500 futures slipped 0.3%, while Nasdaq 100 futures fell 1.3%. Chipmakers and AI hyperscalers declined further after Anthropic reported third-quarter revenue that slowed from earlier in the year and came in below most forecasts, deepening concerns that surging investment in AI may not deliver commensurate returns. Micron, Intel, AMD, and Marvell were all down more than 4% in premarket trading, with Seagate and Western Digital losing about 6%. The Nasdaq 100 was on track for its sixth decline in the past seven sessions.
Producer prices are expected to have risen sharply in September, in line with prevailing expectations for another Federal Reserve rate hike this year. By contrast, the Dow inched higher, supported by a rally in Treasuries as investors rotated out of speculative assets into lower-risk havens. Walmart gained 2.6%, and Eli Lilly rose 2%.
