European equity markets were set to open higher on Friday as the recent selloff in global technology shares eased and investors reassessed the outlook for the artificial intelligence sector. Sentiment was further supported after Federal Reserve Chair Kevin Warsh stopped short of signaling an imminent interest rate hike, despite US inflation data coming in hotter than expected.
In Europe, attention will center on the final September inflation readings for both the Eurozone and Italy, as well as August trade figures for the Eurozone. Automakers may also be in focus amid reports that the European Union is weighing a new trade tool to counter economic pressure from China, adding to the existing tariffs and trade barriers already in place.
In premarket action, Euro Stoxx 50 futures were up 0.7%, while Stoxx 600 futures gained 0.4%.
