Since many traders are off markets ahead of the New Year, popular currency pairs are trading in narrow ranges at the start of the week. Trading volumes are low in the thin market. However, the pre-holiday calm does not prevent the US dollar from advancing towards its best performance since 2015. The US dollar index which tracks its dynamic against major counterparts is set to close the year with a 7% increase.
