    Today, Cuba is like a museum in the open air. Cuba's cities frozen in the time are attracting more and more rich tourists. Such state of affairs is rather profitable for the country.

    Cuba's population amounts to about 10 million people and its economy stands at number 68 in the global ranking. Besides, tourism accounts only for 10.4% of GDP. That is why experts are sure that the Cuban economy needs proper industrialization.

However, at present, Cuba's government has no tools to modernize the country's economy. The better part of cars is really old: their exhaust fumes aggravate the ecological situation. Almost all motorways are broken, excluding a superhighway between Havana and Santiago. Besides, there are very few trucks. In general, Cuba does not comply with the logistics standards.

    Cuba has huge reserves of nickel that is not extracted now. Besides, the country is known for its medicine manufacturing industry, but, at present, all factories need modernization. Sugar is another very important export product. However, it is extracted and refined the same way as in the 1950s.

    Cubans also produce oil, but the country is still energy-dependent.

    It is obvious that Cuba needs money injections. The US is ready to become the main investor. However, experts doubt that this support will have only positive results. Political scientists and economists are not sure that Cubans, who so many years ago chose this way of life, want to adopt capitalism. Some specialists believe that the US intervention can lead to a social explosion.

    Even today, Cubans are divided into two groups: those who work in the tourism industry and those who are not involved in the industry. Now, people live in peace, however, a flow of rich Cubans immigrated to the US in the previous century, can disturb the balance.

    Cuba's government has to take some measures to recover the country's economy. Moreover, the whole world is expecting the one who will replace the Castro brothers.
