On May 31 – June 1, pouring rain caused a lot of damage in some European countries, Asia, and the US. The shower disrupted city traffic in Russia, in particular Volgograd. According to the Interfax news agency, the military troops were assigned to tackle disastrous consequences in the South of Russia.

France's media reported that water in the Seine rose by over 4 meters. The Louvre and Orsay museum, both facing the Seine, were closed last week because of the floods. The Chambord castle in the Loire valley, 30 miles southeast of Paris, was also closed to the public. Paris authorities are thinking whether to halt the metro operation.

Heavy rain led to dangerous flooding in Southeast Germany. Die Welt reported that water swept away cars and damaged property in the state of Baden-Wurttemberg. A lot of citizens were evacuated. Other German cities faced interrupted water and energy supplies.

In London, pouring rain was accompanied by blasts of wind. The forecast service in the UK warned of a possible similar hurricane in the first half of June.

According to the Fobos weather service, residential property and roads were flooded as a result of persistent showers, especially in Southern and Eastern provinces of China.

Scores of towns in Texas (the US) also suffered their worst flooding for decades. The rescue service found it difficult to approach them because of the alert water level.
