African-Americans against US police
US police are often accused of racism by the racial minorities. Killings of black US citizens by the police, according to the majority opinion, occur much more frequently than the killings of other races. In Charlotte was another (and very controversial) incident involving the African-American and police - the police shot an armed man. Under the US law, the murder of a man, presenting the immediate mortal danger, is not a criminal offense. It is known, that law enforcement officers tried to render first aid to the injured man and took him to the hospital.
Against the background of the incident on Tuesday night in North Carolina rioting occurred. Eyewitnesses of the incident and the victim's family members said that the man had not any weapon, and in his hand, according to them, was the book. It was found that the gunman police officer was also African-American.
During the protest the demonstrators (mostly African-Americans) blocked one of the main thoroughfares of the city of Charlotte.
The state police tried to repel the crowd of protesters - law enforcement officers dispersed the demonstrators using batons and tear gas.
During the riots 12 policemen were injured.
