Open fire at the warehouse, which contained plastic products, went on all night. The smell of burning spread across areas of eastern Moscow close to the blaze.
The Ministry of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, commenting on the situation, added that there was no danger for nearby houses, located at a distance of 500 meters from the warehouse. The Ministry explained that they did not revealed the concentration excess of the harmful substances during the air check in 50 meters from the ignition.
The fire was given the 4th (penultimate) the level of difficulty.
Plastic is one of the most dangerous materials if ignition occurs. It is almost impossible to extinguish it by the habitual ways. To eliminate the fire rescue team had to resort to the massive foam attack to cut off the oxygen supply to the building.
A police source told TASS that during the rescue operation the roof collapsed. The firefighters have presumably died beneath the rubble. Emergency workers have recovered the bodies of the missing firefighters while searching through the charred remains of the building.
