The Washington Redskins, an American football team worth $2.85 billion came in at No. 8 in the most valuable sports teams list.

The New York Knicks are seventh overall in the world. The club's value has jumped by 20% to $3 billion compared to the previous year.

The New England Patriots is another American football club in the list. It is the sixth most valuable sports' franchise in the world. The Patriots have increased their value by 23% and are currently worth $3.2 billion.

Manchester United, who had been on the top in 2011 and in 2012, remain fifth with a value of $3.317 billion.

The New York Yankees are baseball's most valuable team since 1998. The Yankees, worth $3.4 billion stand fourth overall in the list.

Barcelona, one of the world's most famous football clubs, go third with a value of $3.549 billion.

After being the most valuable team in 2015, Real Madrid are now second with $3.645 billion.

For the first time, an American team has been ranked No. 1 — the Dallas Cowboys are the first sports franchise worth $4 billion.
