China

The second place in this ranking is taken by China, whose spending on science is $451.2 billion. The total cost of research and development per a researcher in China is $266.6 thousand. In 2016, the number of scientists in the country amounted to 1,692,200 people.

Japan

The land of the rising sun takes the third place in terms of spending on scientific research ($168.6 billion). Two years ago, the number of researchers in Japan was 665.6 thousand people. France

The sixth line in the list of countries that actively invest in the scientific industry is occupied by France ($62.2 billion). India

The seventh place among science-oriented countries is taken by India with a cost of this sector of $50.1 billion. The country has developed nuclear power and defense industry. In India, there is also the Center for Development of Advanced Computing .

The eighth position among the states investing in the scientific development goes to Great Britain, whose expenditures in this sector amount to $47.2 billion.
