XAU/USD, GOLD

WTI Crude Oil (USOIL) Technical Analysis – 1H Chart Current Price CFDs on WTI Crude Oil are trading at $86.79/BBL, up $2.84 or +3.38% on the session. After holding support near $81.50 on July 31, WTI has rallied aggressively. Price has broken above both the rising *SMA 50* (blue line) and flat *EMA 200* (pink line) and is now challenging the $87.00 level. The surge reflects renewed bullish momentum and a break to multi-day highs. Trend Structure & Moving Averages The 1-hour chart shows WTI shifting from consolidation to an impulsive advance. From July 28–31, oil traded in a $81.50–$85.00 range. During this period, the SMA 50 crossed above the EMA 200 near $83.50 and provided dynamic support. Both averages were flattening and confirmed indecision. The structure changed on August 1. A bounce from $81.50 accelerated through the moving average confluence at $84.00. This breakout was followed by strong follow-through, pushing price to $86.79. Both indicators are now acting as support. The SMA 50 near $84.10 is rising, while the EMA 200 near $83.70 remains flat but is no longer declining. Price trading ∼$2.70 above this zone confirms buyers have regained control of the short-term trend. For the bullish move to continue, WTI must achieve a 1-hour close above $86.80. A break above this level would open the path toward $87.50 and then a retest of the prior high near $88.00. Conversely, a pullback and 1-hour close below the SMA 50 at $84.10 would suggest the rally is pausing. This would target a retest of the EMA 200 at $83.70. Key Support & Resistance Levels 1. Immediate Resistance: $87.00 – $87.20 Current session high area. A break above $87.20 is needed to confirm continuation. 2. Major Resistance: $87.80 – $88.00 Prior swing high zone from late July. A close above $88.00 would confirm resumption of the broader uptrend. 3. Immediate Support: $84.00 – $84.10 Confluence of the rising SMA 50 and prior breakout level. This area should now act as support on dips. 4. Major Support: $83.70 – $83.50 Flat EMA 200 and previous resistance. A daily close below $83.50 would negate the bullish structure.

Volume Analysis The Vol 20 indicator shows a clear expansion in buying volume during the rally from $84.00 to $86.79, confirming institutional participation. The prior decline to $81.50 was on moderate volume, while the breakout occurred with above-average volume. This profile supports the validity of the move higher. Traders should watch for continued volume expansion on a break above $87.00 to confirm the next leg up. Risk Management The technical bias is bullish while WTI holds above $84.10 and both the SMA 50 and EMA 200. Traders may look for buy opportunities on dips toward $84.00–$84.10 with invalidation below $83.90, targeting $87.00 and $87.80. Alternatively, a break and close below $83.70 would shift focus back to $83.00 and $82.50. Market participants should monitor inventory data, geopolitical risk, and USD strength. With price breaking to new highs and trading above key trend indicators, volatility is likely to remain elevated on a confirmed break of $87.00.
