Ukrainian-Russian conflict, day 64. Songs and dances around NATO.

Ukrainian-Russian conflict, day 64. Songs and dances around NATO.

NATO, as an organization, has existed since 1949. For 73 years, this organization participated in three military conflicts: in Bosnia in 1994, Afghanistan, and Yugoslavia. NATO positions itself as a military-political bloc with open doors, where everyone can join. The organization offers protection for any country from external enemies and those who encroach on democracy. However, recent events show that NATO is not afraid to take part only in those conflicts in which it can come out a winner. Of course, when it comes to a conflict in a small Bosnia or a slightly larger Yugoslavia, NATO with its advanced technologies and weapons can enter the country and quickly restore order there. However, it turns out that when it comes to a potentially larger conflict with a serious opponent, NATO tries to sit on the sidelines. In principle, the NATO Secretary-General has said many times over the past two months that the organization will not enter into a military conflict in Ukraine in order not to have a direct clash with Russia. It turns out that NATO is somewhat afraid of the Russian Federation, although one often has to hear the opposite point of view since it is still NATO that has advanced weapons and a huge army. It turns out that the Russian Federation and NATO are equally afraid of each other, and no one wants to check whose "baton" is stronger. However, as in the case of Russia's desire to avoid the appearance of NATO bases near its borders, and in the case of NATO's desire to avoid a direct conflict with the Russian Federation, from our point of view, everything is going exactly to this. Finland and Sweden, which have maintained their non-bloc status for decades and were not going to join any alliances, can apply for NATO membership as early as next month. However, the events in Ukraine have shown the whole world that a "special operation" is usually carried out at the request of only one side, so no one is immune from invasion. Moscow has already warned Finns and Swedes several times that it will be forced to "take retaliatory measures." But what are these measures? So far, we are not talking about conducting a new "special operation", however, Moscow has repeatedly stated that the expansion of NATO to the East of the Eurasian continent will in no way contribute to the establishment of peace in these territories. In other words, the tension will only grow in the Eastern region of Europe. And Finland, we recall, has the longest border with Russia - more than 1000 km. In general, as we have said more than once before, a "big mess" is brewing. The explosions in Transnistria, the military operation in Ukraine, Japan's statement on the annexation of the Kuril Islands, Russia's refusal to supply gas to Poland and Bulgaria, the very likely refusal of the entire European Union to import oil and gas, more than 9,000 sanctions against the Russian Federation. All this indicates that the geopolitical situation is deteriorating.
