Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) was up 6.16 points or 2.77% to close at 228.44. Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:VZ) rose 0.71 points or 1.99% to close at 36.44.
The least gainers were Nike Inc (NYSE:NKE), which shed 0.45 points (0.40%) to end the session at 112.41. American Express Company (NYSE:AXP) rose 0.66 points or 0.38% to close at 173.81, while Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE:GS) gained 1.32 points ( 0.39%) and finished trading at 339.74.
Domino's Pizza Inc (NYSE:DPZ), which rose 6.47% to 325.49, and Lennar Corporation (NYSE:LEN), which gained 4.41%, were the top gainers among the components of the S&P 500 in trading today. , to close at 119.81, and CVS Health Corp (NYSE:CVS), which edged up 4.28% to close at 69.50.
The least gainers were Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ:WBD), which shed 3.95% to close at 13.13. Shares of Monolithic Power Systems Inc (NASDAQ:MPWR) shed 3.34% to end the session at 519.28. Arista Networks (NYSE:ANET) was down 3.31% to 163.49.
Leading gainers among the components of the NASDAQ Composite in today's trading were EdtechX Holdings Acquisition Corp II (NASDAQ:EDTX), which rose 202.13% to 33.99, Scworx Corp (NASDAQ:WORX), which gained 70. 54% to close at 0.38, and Jeffs Brands Ltd Unit (NASDAQ:JFBR), which rose 42.97% to close at 1.09.
The least gainers were Top KingWin Ltd (NASDAQ:TCJH), which shed 75.27% to close at 2.30. Mersana Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:MRSN) lost 59.27% to close at 3.89. Bone Biologics Corp (NASDAQ:BBLG) was down 58.27% to 1.64.
On the New York Stock Exchange, the number of securities that rose in price (2245) exceeded the number of those that closed in the red (723), while quotes of 89 shares remained virtually unchanged. On the NASDAQ stock exchange, 2259 companies rose in price, 1285 fell, and 160 remained at the level of the previous close.
The CBOE Volatility Index, which is based on S&P 500 options trading, rose 4.47% to 14.50.
Gold futures for August delivery added 0.08%, or 1.50, to $1.00 a troy ounce. In other commodities, WTI July futures rose 3.40%, or 2.32, to $70.59 a barrel. Futures for Brent crude for August delivery rose 3.33%, or 2.44, to $75.64 a barrel.
Meanwhile, on the Forex market, EUR/USD rose 1.05% to hit 1.09, while USD/JPY edged up 0.14% to hit 140.28.
Futures on the USD index fell 0.77% to 101.74.
