Currently, the world oil market is going through hard times. It is preparing for another massive crisis. Panic spreads among largest exporters, traders fell into abeyance, and potential buyers are eagerly rubbing their hands. A new serious player has appeared on oil market. Unexpectedly, a new oil field has been discovered on the territory of Belarus. Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Andrey Kovkhuto personally informed Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko about such a great find. The Minister pointed out that only due to President's exacting attitude it was possible to discover a new field of oil. Earlier, Lukashenko drew attention to the serious flaws in the exploration of mineral resources in Belarus, where he said more efforts are needed to resolve the problem. Success was not long to wait. According to preliminary data, the deposit is located in the Gomelsk region and has significant crude oil reserves. Belarusians are not about to delay the field development. Oil production is planned to start in the shortest time possible. Republic Unitary Enterprise Production Association Belorusneft will be engaged in oil field development. According to official data, Belarus currently produces about 1.6 million tons of oil per year. Results are not impressive, that is why the Ministry of Natural Resources is focused on the detailed exploration of subsoil resources. Belarusian authorities leave open the possibility of attracting large international companies for discovering new oil fields.
