Christine Lagarde wins the position of managing director of the International Monetary Fund one more time. The IMF’s board of governors elected Christine Lagarde for the next five-year term which will last until 2021. Earlier, Christine Lagarde received support from Russia, the United States and a number of other countries.
It was reported that Christine Lagarde was the only nominee for the position of the IMF’s chief. Ms Lagarde has been in office of the IMF’s managing director since July 5, 2011 and her first term ends on the same day this year. Managing director is head of the staff and serves as chair-man of the executive board, which consists of 24 executive directors.
Christine Lagarde became the first woman who heads the fund.
