UK to launch plastic notes

The UK’s authorities are planning to replace paper money by new plastic banknotes in the near future.
A team that have been working on the creation of the novelty said that the notes printed on polymer can hardly be torn and stained. In other words, they are more durable than paper money and will look newly-printed even after several years in circulation. Besides, the new British notes can survive a standard laundry cycle with minimal damage. Thus, the material is resistant to dirt and water.
The £5 note is the first polymer money that will be put into circulation in September 2016. In general, the Royal Mint will issue about 440 million money units. The final design of the new £5 note will feature the face of Sir Winston Churchill. The £10 note will enter into circulation in 2017 whereas the £20 note will be unveiled in 2020. However, there is no information about the £50 note.
