Hi-tech giant Google has developed a radically different approach to a smartphone design. Developers always find it difficult to please everyone as people have personal preferences for a shape, size, thickness, and width of a handset. A groundbreaking design from Google is described as an interactive mobile device, which can change shape on demand to suit a wide range of use cases. A new prototype of a device called Cubimorph was created by researchers of four universities in the UK. It has been already rolled out to consumers.
The new modular device is made of cubes that have a touch screen on each of the six faces. The cubes can be combined in any way by means of hinges, which connect the cube components, according to a user’s need. Cubimorph could transform into a tablet when on the couch, a smartphone while on the go, a gaming device while relaxing, or a laptop for office needs.
Besides, experts took notice on a smooth operation of motors inside the cubes. Having accomplished the concept design, researchers are to solve more practical matters, in particular to minimize a cube’s size and make the screen seamless. Importantly, they have to streamline the layout of the inside electronic contents.
