German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel said Germany wanted to "remind the United States of the commitment to get to an effective dismantling of sanctions".
Speaking at the opening of an economic forum, Gabriel said delays in removal of the US sanctions against Iran, as well as existing political risks continue to impede full-fledged economic cooperation between the two countries.
Iran's Deputy Economy Minister Mohammad Khazaei said 10 economic agreements would be signed during Gabriel's visit.
Sigmar Gabriel has visited Iran, accompanied by a number of German industry executives.
In January 2016, the United States and the European Union lifted part of nuclear-related economic and financial sanctions against Iran.
Western sanctions against Tehran were officially lifted after the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) released a statement saying Iran fulfilled all of the measures required under its deal with six world powers.
